Join us on Earth Day,Thursday, April 22nd, as we use our resources to let you know about some of the "green" businesses in our area. Throughout the day, we'll be giving you the inside scoop on how businesses in our area are taking the lead in creating a more environmentally friendly Akron.

 EARTH DAY CELEBRATION

Bring items to be recycled and enjoy a nature display at the Coventry Oaks Area of Firestone Metro Park (40 Axline Ave., Akron). The first 100 individuals/families will receive a free green giveaway. Acceptable items include cardboard, phone books, newspapers, magazines, books, musical instruments and e-waste (e.g., batteries, cell phones, computers, VCRs and radios). TV's will not be accepted. LightsOut Ohio

LightsOut Ohio, formerly LightsOut Akron, is a community-wide energy conservation awareness program where people turn off non-essential lighting in schools, in the workplace and at home.

Start with one hour of common sense energy and cost savings. You’ll see how easy it is to start taking many more steps to conserve energy, save on energy costs and protect the environment.
