Here at 91.3 The Summit we realize
the importance of strectching and reusing resources. Being
a non-profit radio station, we've been doing it for years...but
now we recognize the global need to be more responsible and
give back what we've taken away. We have teamed up with the
Akron Recycling Center and started a program in which you can
help not only give back to the environment, but also support
91.3 The Summit at the same time.
We're learning new ways we can
help the world be a better place to live, and trying to work
them
into our everyday lives. One way is by recycling old inkjet
and toner cartridges. To find out how you can help the environment
and The Summit click here.
Another way to help out is by
recycling your old cell phones. Mobile phones and other mobile
devices (pagers, PDAs) present a growing threat to the environment.
As of 2007, there are more than 750 million mobile phones
waiting to be recycled in the US; either in drawers, or already
in the waste stream. Another 150 million or so will be added
this year and even more next year. Once in the waste stream,
these devices may leak Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, Arsenic and
other toxic substances into the water supply. Here at The
Summit we've found a way to make good use of your old cell
phones...donating them to folks who really need them. Click

Lights Out Akron -
Turn Out
the Lights for Earth’s Sake!
This community-wide Akron-pride event will encourage
residents, businesses and government agencies to turn
off non-essential lighting for 1 hour. This simple
action will help us all be more aware of how easy it
is to reduce our energy usage and help cut carbon emissions
without noticeably affecting our lifestyles.
