Some Cartridge Recycling Facts:
· Everybody has or is
using a printer today, and believe it or not millions of these non-biodegradable
plastic inkjet and toner
cartridges are still thrown into landfills each year.
· The recovery and reuse
of toner and inkjet cartridges spares our overburdened landfills
millions of cubic feet of non- biodegradable
material.
· For each cartridge
that is turned in, up to 5 extra pounds of non-biodegradable material
are kept out of our landfills.
· During 1999, over 214
million inkjet printer cartridges and 44 million laser printer cartridges
were consumed in the United
States. It is estimated that over 90% of these cartridges were thrown
away when empty.
· Each laser cartridge
that is recycled conserves the equivalent of 2 quarts of oil.

This: If placed end to end, the inkjets
thrown away in 1999 would stretch from New York to Los Angeles
and back again! |
