“HD Radio,” 91.3 The Summit, and You: What’s going on here?

91.3 The Summit is now broadcasting in “HD!” What’s that?

“HD Radio,” simply, is the digital future of radio. Radio technology has not changed significantly in almost 50 years. Think about everything else electronic in your world, and, all the technological evolutions and revolutions you have witnessed in your lifetime. HD Radio is the first significant upgrade to radio broadcasting since FM stereo technology was developed in the early 1960’s.

HD Radio is not to be feared. Unlike HD TV, or, the latest upgrade for your computer, HD radio is an option. Nothing becomes obsolete. If you don’t want to buy a new HD Radio, your old radio will continue to receive your favorite stations without change or charge.

Invest in a new HD Radio for your home, workplace or car, and, you will move to the future of radio. HD-FM sounds like a CD. And unlike satellite radio, no monthly subscription fees!

Best of all, every HD FM station has the option to launch a second radio station, piggybacked on the main HD FM signal. Yes, we now do that here at 91.3 The Summit!

“ Summit Flashbacks” on our HD-2 channel or listen live online!

By popular demand, our “Summit Flashbacks” music channel pays homage to our 80’s Alternative/Modern Rock roots, a music style that we launched on the original WAPS 89.1 FM way back in 1987. We still own Northeast Ohio’s biggest and best Alt-rock musical archive, and, we’ve dusted it off and gave it a new home 24-7 on our HD-2 channel, “Summit Flashbacks.”

And, of course, we’ll bring it all to you with zero commercials. Don’t have an HD radio yet? You can also listen live online!

With an HD Radio, you’re able to switch back & forth between our regular 91.The Summit broadcasts on “HD-1” and 91.3 “Summit Flashbacks” on “HD-2” at the touch of a button.
